Hey there!

It's been quite a rollercoaster ride for me in the past year, and I wanted to share my story of ups and downs with you. Buckle up!

Picture this: Last year, I was enjoying a fantastic vacation in Alaska when fate had other plans for me. I slipped, fell, and broke my hip. Ouch! But hey, thanks to my healthy habits, I bounced back after surgery and even nailed my physical therapy. By December, I was strutting my stuff, walking five days a week, and covering almost 21 miles.

However, life had another surprise in store. On January 30, I had a not-so-graceful encounter with ice, resulting in a broken ankle that required some serious surgical intervention. Think of two pins, two plates, and seven screws. Recovery was a long and winding road: waiting for surgery, weeks of non-weight-bearing, a walking boot, and endless sessions of physical therapy. Phew!

Needless to say, this unexpected detour threw my professional life off track. I've been away from the business for five months now, or maybe if I'm being honest a whole year!

But you know what? I've decided to cut myself some slack. Life can get overwhelming, right? Just like a client of mine who went through a job loss, the passing of her mother, and a flooded home. Talk about a triple whammy! Sometimes, it feels like everything is just too much to handle.

In the midst of it all, I've learned some valuable lessons that I believe can help you too, especially when you find yourself in need of a little grace:

1. Give yourself permission to step back. Remember, as the Bible says, "There is a time for every season." So go ahead, take a breather, enjoy a break from your usual routine, and let yourself coast for a while.

2. Seek out life-enhancing substitutes to boost your happiness. Personally, I dove headfirst into the world of fiction that I had been denying myself. I even shamelessly watched Bridgerton for the second time in both seasons! And guess what? I discovered a treasure trove of classic movies I could enjoy for free at home. Who knew?

3. If you find yourself battling depression or anxiety, don't hesitate to seek help. There are incredible organizations out there offering free support for individuals facing   mental health challenges. They provide a nurturing community and a safe space to talk. Some even organize group sessions where you can connect with others in similar   situations. You're not alone!

4. Remember, you deserve more than just a day or two off. Believe in your ability to make a comeback once you've regained your mental, physical, and psychological   strength. Trust me, you've got this!

So, I urge you to give yourself some grace today. Take a step back from the frantic pace of life and, quite literally, have a nice day.

Wishing you resilience, strength, and a whole lot of grace on your side.

Warm regards,

Catherine Jewell
